Madhya Pradesh cabinet allocates Rs 50,000 crore for housing projects for urban poor, ET RealEstate

BHOPAL: The state cabinet chaired by CM Mohan Yadav on Tuesday approved the implementation of “Madhya Pradesh Semiconductor Policy 2025” and “Madhya Pradesh Drone Promotion and Utilisation Policy-2025″. Besides, it approved the implementation of Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Urban 2.0.

Under the Awas Yojana, 10 lakh houses will be constructed in five years to benefit the eligible beneficiary families of economically weaker, lower-and middle-income groups in the urban areas.

Briefing reporters after a cabinet meeting, urban administration minister Kailash Vijayvargiya said, “In view of the need to develop the state as an electronics and semiconductor manufacturing hub, the made a new Madhya Pradesh Semiconductor Policy-2025 after studying similar policies of other states. The intention is to create a favourable environment for attracting investment in the state. A sustainable eco-system will be developed. The semiconductor manufacturing sector will be meaningful for moving the state towards long-term industrial development.”

The minister argued that a favourable environment has been created in the country for investment in electronics manufacturing and semiconductor design through ‘Make in India’ and ‘Digital India’. “India’s young and technically skilled population provides a vast talent pool for research and manufacturing. In addition, India’s collaboration with countries like the US, Japan, and Taiwan has further strengthened its position in semiconductor manufacturing,” Vijayvargiya said.

Under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Urban 2.0, eligible beneficiaries will be provided grants to build their house on their own land. Rs 50,000 crore will be spent on the scheme in the state.

In another category, the Affordable Housing in Partnership (AHP) houses will be constructed and provided to eligible beneficiaries of EWS category by urban bodies. Under the Affordable Housing in Partnership (ARH), rental housing will be provided to working women, industrial workers, urban migrants, homeless destitutes, students and other eligible beneficiaries. In a third category of Interest Subsidy Scheme (ISS), interest subsidies on housing loan will be provided to eligible families of EWS, LIG and MIG groups through banks and housing finance corporations.

In another major decision before the Global Investors’ Summit scheduled for Feb 24 and 25, the cabinet approved the Madhya Pradesh Drone Promotion and Utilisation Policy-2025. The cabinet has approved the policy to make the state a leader in the field of drone technology.

“Approval has been given to issue “Madhya Pradesh Drone Promotion and Use Policy-2025″ to promote innovation, economic development and employment generation by using drone technology in agriculture, infrastructure, disaster management, public safety and other sectors to improve service delivery and to make Madhya Pradesh a major center of drone manufacturing and technology and to attract investment in the drone sector,” the govt said in a statement.

The cabinet agreed to sign a tripartite agreement between the Indore Municipal Corporation, MP Housing and Infrastructure Development Board and Principal Secretary Urban Development and Housing for successful implementation of the project on 17.52 hectares of land of Hukumchand Mill, Indore. After closure of the company, the employees were paid their dues by the state govt and the land of the mill in Indore city will be developed into a township with shopping malls, markets, office spaces, residential area and gardens. It will require an investment of Rs 5,100 crore and will create about 10,000 jobs.

The cabinet has approved to increase the stipend amount to internship students currently studying in govt veterinary science and animal husbandry colleges of Jabalpur, Mhow and Rewa from Rs 7,600 to Rs 10,000.
