Michael Breland and Peter Harper, partners on the professional and domestic fronts, launched their namesake practice in 2016, offering architectural, interior design, and landscape services. Previously, Breland (right) had worked at the Storefront for Art and Architecture in New York City and the Chinati Foundation in Marfa, Texas, while Harper built his résumé at the AD100 firm Atelier AM. “Our work is attuned to a specific sense of place—very contextual, measured, and restrained,” Harper says. Adds Breland: “We emphasize simplicity with a commitment to craftspeople. It’s an approach that can be applied to many different project types, scales, and styles.” The couple (pictured at home) is currently finishing a compound in Ojai, remodeling a 1912 Craftsman bungalow in Highland Park, and renovating a Paul Williams house in Brentwood. breland-harper.com
