MUMBAI: The Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) is set to introduce its Online Development Permission System (ODPS) on Feb 1.

This digital platform will be implemented in key areas, including Bandra Kurla Complex, Oshiwara District Centre, Wadala Notified Area, and CSMI Airport Notified Area, as part of efforts to modernise urban development processes.

The ODPS is designed to streamline the submission and approval of building plans, reducing processing times and improving efficiency. Additionally, the system will be extended to Slum Rehabilitation Projects, offering support to Project-Affected Persons (PAPs) impacted by MMRDA’s infrastructure initiatives.

The system was already operational in Kalyan Growth Centre and Bhiwandi Surrounding Notified Area since June 1, 2023, where it demonstrated its effectiveness in reducing delays and enhancing user experience. By digitising the approval process, MMRDA aims to increase transparency and improve the ease of doing business in urban development.

The ODPS offers faster processing of building plan submissions and approvals, ensuring a more efficient workflow for stakeholders. It also includes Slum Rehabilitation Projects, providing critical support to communities affected by infrastructure projects.

MMRDA said that the system already proved successful in Kalyan Growth Centre and Bhiwandi Surrounding Notified Area, where it reduced delays and improved user satisfaction. Furthermore, the platform enhances transparency and accessibility, making urban planning processes more user-friendly and efficient.
