PANAJI: Based on a complaint filed by the Goa Bachao Abhiyan against the Bhutani project at Sancoale, the town and country planning department has asked the Mormugao Planning and Development Authority (MPDA) to look into the concerns and irregularities identified by the NGO.
The MPDA has been given 15 days to look into the concerns raised by GBA.
In Oct, GBA demanded the immediate revocation of all clearances given for the mega housing project. GBA claims that no environmental clearance was taken for the project, which has an 85,886 sqm built-up area, even though such a clearance is mandatory for projects above 20,000 sqm. It also mentioned that the project has no road access, which is critical for a large project, and that the land was once classified as private forest.
MPDA will have to look for evidence of non-compliance, missing or misrepresented information.
This is the second time that the TCP asked the MPDA to verify if the Bhutani Project followed all norms while seeking permissions.
