INDORE: The Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) department is unlikely to commence online allocation of land to industries in 2024 and fresh online allotment is anticipated to begin not before early 2025 as the department is revamping the portal and digitizing permission mechanism.
The department has suspended online allocation of land citing ‘technical glitches’ in the portal since late June.
“We are overhauling the entire system and portal for a seamless and transparent system of land allocation. Allocation of land through the portal is temporarily suspended and we are anticipating to start with the new system by early 2025. In the new system, we are planning to synchronize all basic and advanced procedures for an enhanced interface,” said MSME commissioner Dr Navneet Mohan Kothari.
The new portal is envisaged to have all advanced features and verticals for various permissions and approvals, said officials.
The MSME department in a letter to all the DIC’s dated July 31, 2024, directed to cancel applications received from industries for undeveloped land allotment in July as the process could not be completed seamlessly due to technical glitches.
The department has instructed its regional offices in every district to collate information about land, industries, and other information pertinent to investment.
Officials from the regional offices at DIC said they have been asked to submit information in 36 columns to the department.
The suspension of land to industries has deferred plans to many industries contemplating investment and expansions.
“There are numerous industries wishing to expand their business and many entrepreneurs want to establish new facilities but in absence of land allotment, their plans are suffering. The state govt should prioritize the matter and launch the portal soon to restart land allocation,” said Yogesh Mehta, president, Association of Industries Madhya Pradesh (AIMP).
