MYSURU: The probe agency investigating the alleged 50:50 site scam in Mysore Urban Development Authority (Muda) has broadened its scope to examine other schemes, including those pertaining to alternative and incentive sites.

Despite these schemes appearing less significant in scale, the agency is conducting a thorough investigation.

RTI activist Gangaraju, who provided evidence to the Enforcement Directorate (ED) regarding the 50:50 scam citing alleged irregularities, told TOI the ED’s investigation encompasses all Muda operations comprehensively. The ED officials gathered information about additional Muda schemes. Muda commissioner AN Raghunandan, without providing specific details, said they are providing all information sought by the ED.

The urban development body offers incentive sites to farmers/ landowners who provide their land for development. However, Muda should have made deductions from compensation payments towards providing these incentive sites.

Additionally, under the alternative site scheme, certain influential individuals with allocated sites in Muda-developed layouts exchanged them for better locations within the same area or in different localities with higher property value.

A former Muda chairman alleged that a person exchanged his allocated site in Devanur Layout in northeast Mysuru under the alternative site scheme. But the schemes are allegedly manipulated for the benefit of the influential.

Registered real estate consultant MD Adish Sagar said before the 50:50 site scheme affected the urban development body, the alternative site scheme was also an issue. The absence of public notifications made it difficult for people to detect officials concerned with covert activities.

He mentioned his RTI applications in this regard remain unanswered, with officials refusing information on technical grounds.
