NASHIK: The Nashik Municipal Corporation (NMC) is likely to approve various developmental works, worth Rs 400 crore proposed in the current financial year’s budget within the next one or two months, with an eye on the assembly polls expected to take place in October this year.

The civic body’s various departments, including public works, health, water supply, mechanical, town planning, and property, have initiated the process of drawing up proposals for developmental works related to their respective areas.

Due to the model code of conduct for Lok Sabha polls between March 16 and June 4, and the ongoing code of conduct for the Nashik division teachers’ constituency MLC polls until July 4, NMC was unable to carry out budgetary works during the first quarter (April-June) of the current fiscal (2024-25).

NMC officials anticipate that the code of conduct for upcoming state assembly polls may come into effect by September-end, with the elections likely to be held in October or November.
