AHMEDABAD: The Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) has decided to digitize its property tax reassessment process through an app.
Jainik Vakil, chairman of the Revenue Committee, said the app will ease the process, ensure that assessment officers actually visit the property, and eliminate human errors while speeding up the entire reassessment exercise.
Linked to Google Maps, the GPS-based app will be operational on the ward assessment officer’s registered mobile number and allow him to edit the details only when he is at the property’s location. It will allow photo uploads and also enable senior officials to check exactly when had an assessment officer visited the property.
Using this app, the AMC expects to complete the entire property tax reassessment process in 75-90 days.
With minimal human intervention, it will leave no scope for errors, Vakil said.
Officials added that the exercise earlier involved a lot of paperwork, was lengthy and there were allegations of assessment officers not visiting the property. The AMC has also decided to facilitate online payment of property tax by scanning the QR code printed on property tax bills. Several facilities offered at civic centres too would be available on UPI or through dynamic QR code.
