JAIPUR: Shelving the earlier Detailed Project Reports (DPRs), Jaipur Metro Railway Corporation Limited (JMRCL) is set to prepare two new separate DPRs for the Jaipur Metro Line 2. Officials said the Rail India Technical and Economic Service (RITES) will prepare the two DPRs.

Speaking to TOI, a senior JMRCL official said that the two tenders are for two different stretches of Line 2 of Jaipur Metro. One of the DPRs will be for the stretch between India Gate in Sanganer to Ambabari, while the second one will be for the stretch between Ambabari to Vidhyadhar Nagar. During the state Budget, Finance Minister Diya Kumari announced the extension.

“We will shelve the earlier DPR for Line 2 that also was revised once. Now, we are going to prepare two separate DPRs for Line 2 for the two stretches,” said a senior JMRC official, who did not want to be quoted.

Officials said there are a couple of reasons behind shelving the earlier DPR for Line 2, prepared by the Delhi Metro Railway Corporation Limited (DMRCL) in 2012. The state govt had revised that DPR in 2020 to bring down the project cost from Rs 9,500 crores to Rs 4,546 crores.

First, the alignment and height of the metro corridor need to be revised on the stretch between B2B Crossing and Rambagh Circle on Tonk Road because of a few traffic projects executed by the state govt. Second, in the revised DPR, the size of stations and a few facilities was reduced to bring down the project cost.

“As per policy, a metro railway system is designed keeping in mind the projected traffic growth for the next 120 years. The size mentioned in the revised DPR may not be feasible to maintain this policy. So, we are preparing the DPRs afresh,” another JMRCL official added.
