HYDERABAD: IT and industries minister D Sridhar Babu on Monday said three master plans — comprehensive mobility plan, economic development, and blue and green infrastructure development — are being prepared for the development of the Hyderabad metropolitan region, as part of the Mega Master Plan 2050.

Replying to queries on the budget allocated for MA&UD, industries, and IT departments for the 2025-26 fiscal in the assembly, Sridhar Babu said there were five master plans for the Hyderabad metropolitan region earlier, and they are reaching their exhaustion date soon. As a result, new master plans are being prepared, and world-renowned expert consultancies have been roped in for the task.

“The objective of the govt is to make Hyderabad a benchmark on the sustainable development front in the next 10 to 15 years. Through internal financial resources, loans from financial institutions, and support from the Centre, all urban development projects such as metro rail, Musi rejuvenation, drinking water supply, and underground drainage network will be implemented in the Hyderabad metropolitan area, other municipal corporations, and major municipalities,” he said.

Urbanisation is taking place at a fast pace, with 49.4% of the total population of Telangana living in urban areas in the state. As many as 18 new municipalities have been formed, and 75 gram panchayats are being added to the urban local bodies in the state.

He slammed the previous BRS govt for leaving the LRS incomplete, due to which lakhs of applicants were left worried. The present Congress govt will complete the LRS scheme at the earliest and provide major relief to middle sections of society by authorising their lands.
