Over 19,000 beneficiaries in Nagpur district to get PMAY homes on Feb 22, ET RealEstate

NAGPUR: The ambitious Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Gramin) is gaining momentum in Maharashtra, with 19,085 beneficiaries from Nagpur district receiving authorisation letters for their new dwellings.

The official sanction and initial instalment of funds shall be disbursed in a ceremony on Saturday presided over by Union home minister Amit Shah, chief minister Devendra Fadnavis, and rural development minister Jaykumar Gore on a virtual platform. In Nagpur, the orders shall be distributed by guardian minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule.

According to the district administration’s statement, the event, scheduled at Balewadi, Pune, shall be live-streamed at the Abasaheb Khedkar Hall in Nagpur Zilla Parishad. Under Phase II of the PMAY-Gramin scheme for FY 2024-25, some 20,225 beneficiaries from Nagpur district were selected, of which 19,085 shall receive authorisation letters, and 12,862 beneficiaries shall receive the initial instalment of financial assistance to commence construction.

To ensure comprehensive coverage, concurrent events shall be organised at district, taluka, and gram panchayat levels, where local authorities shall distribute authorisation letters to beneficiaries. The district-level event shall be attended by divisional commissioner Vijayalakshmi Bidari, district collector Vipin Itankar, Zilla Parishad CEO Vinayak Mahamuni, project director Varsha Gaurkar, alongside MLAs, officials, and beneficiaries.

Each dwelling recipient shall also receive 90 days of wages under the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MGNREGS). Furthermore, those who have not utilised incentives under the Swachh Bharat Mission shall be granted Rs12,000, and landless beneficiaries shall receive Rs1 lakh under the Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay Scheme to purchase land.

The Maharashtra government has reinforced its commitment to providing housing for every eligible rural family. The ongoing 100-day programme under CM’s leadership aims to expedite various state projects, emphasising rural housing schemes to provide dwellings more efficiently.

This initial instalment disbursement programme shall be conducted statewide, with virtual participation from various gram panchayats. The State Management Cell for Rural Housing in Maharashtra shall conduct training sessions for beneficiaries. Mahamuni and Gaurkar have requested all beneficiaries to be present at their gram panchayats on February 22 at 4 PM to collect their authorisation letters.
