LUCKNOW: The state govt has witnessed a commendable stride in catering to the housing needs of its underprivileged citizens through Chief Minister Housing Scheme Rural or Mukhyamantri Awas Yojana (Rural).

Launched on Feb 2, 2018, a staggering 2.57 lakh houses have been allotted to beneficiaries under the scheme till 2023-24, underscoring the govt’s unwavering commitment to uplift the underprivileged.

The hallmark of this initiative lies in its inclusivity, with a particular emphasis on addressing the housing needs of backward castes. A substantial number of individuals hailing from communities such as Musahar, Kol, Vantangiya, Tharu, Sahariya, Chero, Baiga, Nat, and Boxa have been beneficiaries of this scheme.

Moreover, the initiative extends its outreach to vulnerable demographics, encompassing the disabled, those afflicted by natural calamities, and individuals battling debilitating diseases like leprosy, kala-azar, and Japanese encephalitis/acute encephalitis syndrome.

Statistics reveal the magnitude of impact achieved through Mukhyamantri Awas Yojana Rural. Notably, from 2018-19 to 2023-24, allocations include 47,795 houses for Musahar caste, 29,923 for Kol, 4,838 for Vantangiya, 3,233 for Tharu, 6,979 for Sahariya, 5,367 for Chero, 1,584 for Nat, 2,220 for Boxa, 164 for Pachhaiya Lohar, and 11 for Gadhaiya Lohar. Additionally, 71,257 houses have been allocated for Divyaganjan, 78,101 for victims of natural disasters, 5,021 for leprosy victims, 674 for JE/AES, and 249 for Kala-azar victims.

In an encouraging display of progress, districts like Amroha, Shamli, Bareilly, Bijnor, and Bhadohi stand out for completing a significant number of houses as per the set targets. However, the govt has issued directives to all districts, urging them to fulfill their allocated quotas by March 20, reinforcing the administration’s unwavering dedication towards achieving equitable housing distribution.
