NAGPUR: A total of 6,116 villages in the Nagpur division are set to undergo drone surveys under the central govt’s ambitious SVAMITVA scheme, aimed at providing property (PR) cards to rural landowners through geo-tagging technology. According to officials, the process to undertake drone surveys has already begun.
Nearly 20% of the villages in Maharashtra covered by the scheme fall under Nagpur division. Of the 8,780 villages in the division, 4,447 have completed their final review, and 5,343 have undergone the inquiry process. Additionally, 6,07,075 income certificates have been prepared for property holders.
The revenue generated through the scheme is also significant, with ₹12.96 crore already collected from 4,447 villages. An additional ₹20.78 crore is expected, bringing the total projected revenue from the division to ₹33.74 crore.
Nagpur district leads in the number of villages under final review (1,250 villages), and the number of villages mapped through drones (1,362 villages). It is closely followed by Gadchiroli, where 1,359 villages are undergoing drone surveys. Chandrapur is also making rapid progress, with 903 villages in the final review stage.
Despite this progress, 773 villages in the Nagpur division are awaiting ground truthing and inquiry completion, which are crucial steps before finalising property records. Across Maharashtra, a total of 16,996 villages will benefit from the scheme.
To facilitate the smooth implementation of the SVAMITVA Yojana and expedite revenue collection, 407 camps have been set up across the six districts of the Nagpur division, with 814 officers deployed for the process. These camps are held every Thursday and on significant dates such as January 26, May 1, August 15, and October 2 to ensure maximum participation from beneficiaries.
