NAGPUR: The Nagpur Metro Region Development Authority (NMRDA) has received 84,635 applications to legalize unauthorized houses and plots under the Gunthewari Act in Nagpur Metro Region.

A senior NMRDA official said the deadline for submission of online applications ended on January 31. An appeal was made to those who submitted online applications to give their documents in person at the divisional office.

NMRDA comprises Hingna, Mouda, Kamptee, Nagpur rural, Parsheoni and some villages of Kuhi, Umred, Kalmeshwar and Saoner. Illegal plots and houses are being regularized under the Gunthewari Act till December 31, 2020. The process started on June 1, 2023 subject to valid documents and other norms.

Responding to a query, the official said that extension was provided on NMRDA’s website www.nmrda.org.

The official clarified that applications submitted online without physical documents will be rejected. The applications will be accepted at the divisional offices of NMRDA on Saturday and Sunday.

Submitting ownership documents like sale deed of the plot, map of the plot, building map, residence proof etc. along with the application is mandatory. Once the documents are submitted to the NMRD office, they will be verified. Applications are checked according to the layout.

The land records department will verify the documents related to ownership.
