Dutch designer Hella Jongerius kicked off her multifaceted career at Droog in Amsterdam. She then launched Jongeriuslab in the 1990s, dreaming up textiles, furniture, ceramics, and interiors in her Rotterdam studio. Over the decades, Jongerius has boldly experimented with color and the malleability of materials, hallmarks of her extensive archive, which was recently entrusted to the Vitra Design Museum in Weil am Rhein, Germany.

A longtime Vitra collaborator, Jongerius conceived products for the brand—like the asymmetrical, button-adorned Polder sofa—and updated the Eames plastic chair with intriguing new shades. In 2026, the museum—already stewards of collections by Charles and Ray Eames, Alexander Girard, and Verner Panton—will unveil the first retrospective of Jongerius’s forward-thinking work.

Young Collectors Night makes a splash at the Winter Show

More than 700 budding collectors of art, design, and antiques gathered at New York’s Park Avenue Armory on January 25 for the Winter Show’s annual Young Collectors Night. Backdropped by eye-catching objects from 70 dealers around the world, the shindig, fueled by NightOwl espresso martinis and the sounds of DJ Jade Croo, was a glamorous tentpole of the 70-year-old fair’s 10-day run.

This year’s Young Collectors Night was held in partnership with Muzo Emerald Colombia and honored Wes Gordon and Paul Arnhold (creative director at Carolina Herrera and glass artist, respectively). The event attracted guests like jeweler Irene Neuwirth, AD100 firm Charlap Hyman & Herrero’s Adam Charlap Hyman, and entrepreneur Indré Rockefeller, who all embraced the glittering jewel-box theme and dressed to the nines. The swank event raised more than $200,000 for East Side House Settlement, a nonprofit organization serving residents of the Bronx and northern Manhattan.
