Patna Metro Rail Project Secures Rs115 Crore Funding for Expansion, ET RealEstate

PATNA: The state cabinet on Thursday approved the release of Rs 115 crore from the state plan fund to the Patna Metro Rail Corporation (PMRC) for implementing the primary corridor of the Patna Metro project. A portion of these funds will be used by the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) for track work, lift and escalator installations as well as the supply of train sets.

The cabinet also approved a proposal from the home (police) department to improve policing in urban Patna. As part of this, three additional deputy superintendents of police (DSPs), three police inspectors, nine sub-inspectors, 18 assistant sub-inspectors and 120 constables will be posted.

To strengthen local governance, the cabinet cleared the creation of two assistant town commissioner positions and three chief executive officer positions for the Patna Municipal Corporation and the Nagar Parishads in the Patna urban area.

The cabinet also approved the creation of new posts to staff the newly formed revenue circles carved out of the main Patna Sadar Circle. The new revenue circles include Patna Sadar, Patliputra, Patna City and Deedarganj.

Further, the cabinet approved the establishment of an integrated town management unit for Patna, which will operate under the Patna district magistrate. This unit will include an official at the additional district magistrate level from the Bihar Administrative Service cadre, supported by 19 typists, eight drivers and 14 peons.

The cabinet also sanctioned 210 new posts for the nagar panchayats across the state, which will require an annual expenditure of Rs 9.74 crore.
