PUNE: PMRDA officials on Friday demolished over 50 structures during its anti-encroachment drive at Laxmi Chowk in Hinjewadi of Pimpri Chinchwad.
The officials said structures like tin shades, brick constructions and retaining walls were demolished. Additionally, owners of around 50 properties around Laxmi Chowk removed encroached structures on their own after a warning issued by PMRDA.
The action came a few days after the industrialists and representatives of the IT firms of Hinjewadi IT Park highlighted frequent traffic jams reported at this junction during a meeting with the minister of industries, Uday Samant.
“We are taking different steps to reduce traffic congestion in PMRDA limits and the constructions that cause traffic jams are being demolished. Our action will continue, and the citizens are advised to remove encroachment on their own to avoid action,” Dnyaneshwar Bhale, the Public Relations Officer of PMRDA, said.
