NOIDA: Around 100 residents of Golf Links 1 society sat on an indefinite protest on Friday afternoon outside the Greater Noida Authority’s office over the lack of maintenance in the society. Last year, GNIDA had taken up the maintenance of the only freehold property in Greater Noida after 12 years of dispute. Despite assurances, residents claim the authority has not acted so far.

“The GNIDA said they will provide all municipal amenities such as sewer, streetlights, roads, parks, sanitation, etc., like sectors such as alfa, beta, gamma, etc., after the maintenance takeover. However, they have not even initiated any process of taking over the maintenance of our residential premises”, said resident Dharmendra Kataria.

In 1996, GNIDA sold the land to Ansal housing on a freehold basis. Ansal Housing sold the land in 822 divided plots. Of these, over 400 plots were developed into residential houses, but the remaining plots lie vacant.

For those who reside in Ansal Golf Links 1, life is nothing short of a nightmare. Roads are almost non-existent. Craters, ditches, and potholes make driving a task within the complex. The vacant land plots are now host to shrubs and bushes. “Over a hundred illegal hotels were operating in Golf Link 1. GNIDA has served several notices to them. The situation has always been worse in our residential area. It needs immediate maintenance, and only authorities can do it,” said Surendra, a resident of Golf Links 1.

“We are extremely dissatisfied with the lack of basic maintenance facilities in their area. As a result, we have started an indefinite protest in front of GNIDA today,” said another resident.

Ashutosh Diwedi, ACEO of GNIDA, said, “We had made one agreement with the RWA of the society to collect money from the residents and deposit the amount for the maintenance work. However, they have not initiated the process. According to the rules, we cannot maintain a private builder residential area”.
