NOIDA: Developers of projects who have opted for UP govt’s rehabilitation package but are yet to pay 25% of their recalculated dues as advance are likely to lose their lease deeds, allotted plots or even unsold inventory.
Chief minister Yogi Adityanath, who conducted a review meeting of the industries department on Saturday, took stock of the projects that were yet to adhere to the guidelines and asked the three development authorities in Gautam Budh Nagar to crack the whip on them. Officials said Noida Authority was planning a three-pronged action – cancelling the lease deeds of defaulter projects, seizing land lying idle and taking over unsold inventory.
In Noida, 57 projects were found eligible for the govt’s package, which is based on recommendations of a committee led by former Niti Aayog member Amitabh Kant. Of these, 27 opted for a two-year zero period waiver as part of the package and paid 25% of the revised dues as advance. There were 14 projects whose developers paid the dues partially and 16 that did not make any payment.
Sources in the Authority said these 30 developers had already been given an ultimatum, following which the proposed action would follow now.
The Authority is planning similar action against developers, industrialists, and businessmen who have failed to complete construction work within deadlines. The decision to extend the crackdown on them was taken at another meeting on Saturday.
Similar action will be taken against builders of commercial and institutional projects, as well as companies allotted industrial plots. Lokesh M, the Noida Authority CEO, reviewed the status of vacant plots across various sectors and instructed officials that they be included in future schemes.
Senior managers were asked to effectively curb unauthorised constructions and encroachments in their respective areas and secure reclaimed land by constructing boundary walls around them.
At the meeting, officials also took up issues such as redevelopment of four model roads, painting central verges and footpaths, installing cat eyes, reflectors, signage, lights, fixing hanging electrical cables, strengthening and lighting up unipoles, and enhancing aesthetics.
Officials were also asked to inspect public toilets at various locations, rectify deficiencies, and make the designs more attractive.
Those in the public health department were instructed to regularly check the low attendance of employees in the morning. The Authority had last week issued a showcause notice to the general manager of public health, SP Singh, for lack of cleanliness in the city.
The Saturday meeting also addressed the issue of underground electrical cables crossing from one road to another, with instructions to fix these by constructing slabs as needed. The progress of installing CCTV cameras in areas prone to waterlogging was reviewed too.
