LUCKNOW: A day after the high drama in Akbarnagar over the demolition drive, Lucknow Development Authority on Friday extended the camp dates for registration of houses under PMAY till January 21. The camp was to conclude on December 31.
A total 14 registrations were done at the camp on Friday, with 10 individuals opting for houses under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY). So far, 81 people have registered for PMAY houses, while 88 have chosen schemes under the DUDA.
Meanwhile, residents said while power and water supply were restored to homes on late Thursday after the high court stayed the demolition drive, commercial complexes of the area were still without power.
Sunil Kumar, LESA chief of the area, said the supply was cut on the district administration’s order and cannot be restored until revised order comes.
Tension prevailed in the area since demolition machinery like JCBs and Poclain were still parked in Akbarnagar. Officials from the district administration, LDA and LMC conducted an inspection of the area.
District administration teams had reached Akbarnagar on Thursday to demolish illegal shops and houses to pave way for the revival and restoration of Kukrail river, but the high court has stayed the drive till January 22.
