Residents in White Rose Layout face poor road conditions, with dust in summer and slush during monsoons. Despite complaints, authorities have not resolved the issues
Approximately 50 families living in White Rose Layout near Hope Farm Junction, Whitefield, within the Mahadevapura Assembly constituency, are facing significant issues due to inadequate road infrastructure. The roads in the layout become excessively dusty in summer and slushy during the monsoon season.
The residents complain that the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) authorities are not taking any action to asphalt the roads in the layout. Two-wheeler riders find it difficult to commute on these roads. “We are paying property tax to the BBMP. All properties in this layout are A Khata properties. It has become difficult for us to commute on these roads during monsoon. All the roads become slushy and muddy whenever it rains. Recently, a woman sustained injuries on Friday after falling from a two-wheeler due to slush on the road,’’ said Naveen Kumar S, a resident.
He mentioned that grey water overflowing onto the roads from septic pits has been a nuisance and health haazard for the residents. “The building owners dug up sanitary pits as the Bangalore Water Supply and Sewerage Board (BWSSB) is yet to lay water and sanitary pipes at the layout,’’ he said.
Demanding the BBMP and BWSSB authorities to provide basic amenities, Anilkumar Reddy, who owns a residential site at White Rose Layout, has stated that the condition of the roads is deteriorating day by day. “I appeal to the authorities to asphalt the roads as early as possible for the benefit of residents,’’ said Anilkumar Reddy. Stating that no developmental works have been undertaken at the layout, Vijay Kumar, a resident, mentioned that he has been residing there for the last six years. “All the roads are mud roads in this layout. Nothing has been done till now to improve the roads. The BWSSB has yet to lay the sanitary and water pipes. It becomes extremely tough for the residents to walk on these roads whenever it rains.
I appeal to the authorities to fix these problems as early as possible,’’ said Vijay Kumar.
When contacted, BWSSB engineer Ravi Kumar said that approvals for laying water and sanitary pipes were received by higher authorities. “We could not float tender due to the model code of conduct during the Lok Sabha elections. We are planning to float the tender inviting bidders for laying the water and sanitary pipes at the layout. The work will begin soon,’’ said the BWSSB engineer.
