MOHALI: There is a yearlong backlog in the disposal of various cases pertaining to the revenue department in Mohali. The cases involve the disposal of land partitions, mutations, and Khasra Girdwari for acquired lands.

To resolve this issue, the additional deputy commissioner (ADC), currently holding the temporary charge as deputy commissioner, Viraj S Tidke, directed the district’s revenue officers to resolve all pending land partition and Khasra Girdwari cases that have been outstanding for over a year within the next two months.

ADC Tidke said, “It came to my notice that there has been a yearlong backlog of various cases pertaining to revenue department. Directions have been issued to the revenue officers to dispose of all such pending files within two months.”

During a review of the progress made by the revenue officers, in presence of sub-divisional magistrates and district revenue officers, he emphasised the need to launch a special campaign to assist citizens visiting their offices regarding these cases. He insisted that this campaign should be time-bound, prioritising cases that were pending for more than a year.

The ADC cautioned that delays in these mutation cases, particularly those concerning the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) for acquired lands, could lead to complications in the future. He added that maintaining a clean revenue record for affected landowners is essential for their future needs.

While reviewing the recoveries made by the revenue officers, he stressed the importance of increasing and expediting revenue and other recoveries. Officers were instructed to personally follow up on court cases to prevent any adverse remarks from the courts.

Furthermore, while reviewing the upcoming developments in Zirakpur and Majri sub-tehsils and the modernisation of the sub-registrar office in Mohali, the deputy commissioner encouraged the SDMs and relevant revenue officers to maintain communication with the authorities to ensure timely approvals.
