HYDERABAD: Bachupally police of Cyberabad on Thursday arrested Venkanna Aravind Reddy, Builder and owner of RIZE Constructions and four others in connection with the wall collapse incident that resulted in the death of seven migrants and injuries to several others.

Among others arrested are Murugesan Sathish Kumar, the Site Engineer, Mariya Francis Xavier Raj, the Project Manager, and Dhadiyala Rajesh and Allu Ram Reddy, both contractors.

They were all produced before the court and sent to a 14 day judicial remand, said DCP Balanagar T Srinivasa Rao. Police prima facie found that the accused persons did not ensure any safety precautions at the construction site and also at the labour camp set up in the abutting open land.

Further, they also constructed the retaining wall without a basement and dumped soil on one side, burdening it, resulting in the collapse, said police.

CRIZE constructions began the construction of the five storeyed residential apartment at Renuka Yellamma Colony of Bachupally in December 2022. Due to the sudden rain accompanied by gales on Tuesday, the retaining wall collapsed on the labour camp, resulting in the incident.
