BENGALURU: There is good and bad news for revenue site holders and for those who bought sites at Nadaprabhu Kempegowda Layout. The good news is that there will be no hassles for the continuation of roads connecting various blocks of Nadaprabhu Kempegowda Layout. The bad news is that the holders of General Power of Attorney (GPA) and agreements will not only lose their revenue sites but are also ineligible for alternative sites to be allocated by the Bangalore Development Authority (BDA).
It is said that there are many layouts developed on the revenue land in and around Nadaprabhu Kempegowda Layout. The BDA was supposed to acquire these revenue layouts to ensure connectivity of roads in the layout but was delayed due to a writ petition (1783/2014) in the High Court, which directed the revenue site owners to register themselves with the BDA for allotment of alternative sites within three months under the BDA (Allotment of Sites) Rules, 1984. However, payment of the initial deposit by the revenue site holders is exempt.
The BDA would treat the applicants as being entitled to priority allotment and allot each of them a site measuring 30×40 sq ft in the Nadaprabhu Kempegowda Layout, with prevailing allotment prices subject to the applicants satisfying the dual requirements of allotment under the rule that they must be residents of Bengaluru for 10 years and should not be owning any residential property in the city. Filled application forms, along with other documents, can be submitted at the BDA head office from March 22 to May 23.
Those who have bought revenue sites and are yet to register those sites on their names will not benefit despite the decision of the BDA to ensure road connectivity from one block to the next at Nadaprabhu Kempegowda Layout. In response to this, a revenue site holder questioned, “Thousands of people bought sites at revenue layouts with their hard-earned money. Who will compensate if they lose their sites to the BDA?’’
Prashanth of Bheemakuppe, whose father owns two revenue sites, said the BDA has to avoid acquiring revenue layouts for the benefit of those who spent their entire savings to buy revenue sites. “I do know the fate of my father’s sites. The BDA is yet to issue a notice to us,’’ Prashanth said.
Meanwhile, Nadaprabhu Kempegowda Layout Open Forum spokesperson Surya Kiran has said that the 300-acre revenue layout land acquisition that has been pending since 2010 due to a compensation issue will be resolved as per the High Court’s direction. “More continuity and connectivity issues will end in a few days when the land is acquired and parts of the layout and infrastructure-related works will be completed in those areas,’’ said Surya Kiran.
