NOIDA: Peripheral roads will be constructed around 20 villages along the Noida Expressway to demarcate developed residential or abadi land using satellite imagery to prevent encroachment on land owned by the Noida Authority.
It is among the key recommendations of a committee set up by UP govt in Feb last year to address farmers’ demands for additional compensation and develop residential plots for land acquired from them for industrial projects.
The committee, which submitted its report in Aug, recommended Noida Authority to conduct physical surveys and demarcate boundaries of these villages within three months, as per the amended 2011 Rural Population Site Rules.
The authorities have already begun a detailed survey of 20 villages to determine their boundaries using satellite imagery from 2011. Recent surveys covered Shahpur Govardhan and Jhatta villages. However, recent observations reveal that the village boundaries expanded by 1.5 to 2 times since the original cutoff date of June 30, 2011.
Along with this, the Authority will also address the issue related to the leaseback limit.
As per the high-level committee’s recommendations, the leaseback regularisation limit, which was increased from 450 sqm to 1,000 sqm earlier, should now be enforced. This will be incorporated while defining the villages’ boundaries.
Authority CEO Lokesh M stated that villages already surrounded by developed sectors will not require new peripheral roads. However, villages located along the expressway and in newer development zones will benefit significantly from these initiatives.
Officials have stated that these initiatives, including the increase in settlement limits and the construction of peripheral roads, aim to ensure sustainable development in villages, safeguard farmers’ interests, and address encroachment issues effectively.
Since 2019, farmers have been involved in a protracted stir, seeking increased abadi land quotas and other benefits, including better rehabilitation, commercial use of residential plots, jobs for their children, and improved healthcare facilities. Notably, in Dec, the govt constituted another committee to oversee the implementation of these recommendations.
The CEO has directed the land records sdepartment, work circle, and planning department to expedite survey work on population and peripheral areas.
