Sable Ranch, a popular Hollywood estate that has served as a filming location for dozens of film and TV shows, is for sale for $35 million, reports The New York Times. Spanning over 400 acres, the hilly, canyon-dotted property has been seen in heavy hitters across eras and genres, including projects such as Invisible Man, Oppenheimer, American Horror Story, Haunted Mansion, The A-Team, Motel Hell, and Robin Hood: Men in Tights. “The amount of history that is here, and the amount of movies and TV shows and commercials that have been made here, really is phenomenal,” Derek Hunt, who owns Sable Ranch, told the Times.

The site’s natural landscape—which is close to LA but appears remote on screen—is also a draw.

In 1969, Hunt’s grandfather, Frank Vacek, purchased the ranch and the property next to it, sensing its Tinseltown potential. Having already established a camera shop in downtown LA, he built a replica Old West town on the property and established Frank’s Western Photo Show, which was used by photographers and models looking to capture a Gold Rush aesthetic for years. Though the imitation ghost town is among the most recognizable areas on the ranch, there are a number of other buildings and sets, including a two-story ranch house, a large red barn, a Spanish-style hacienda that dates to the 1900s, and a stationary four-car train.

In 2016, the original Old West set burned down in a wildfire, prompting Hunt to rebuild the scene. Today, the timber, false-front structures stand again, but Hunt, who lives in Mexico and travels often, is ready to pass the property on.
