HYDERABAD: South Central Railway (SCR) has initiated plans to transform unused railway properties across the city into commercial establishments.

Railway authorities invited expressions of interest to utilise empty lands at eight prime locations, including Lallaguda, Mettuguda, Arts College, Alwal, and Uppuguda. These spaces can be developed into fitness centres, food courts, cloud kitchens, sports facilities, drive-in venues, and function halls, among other amenities. These lands cover an area of over 7,000 square metres, and SCR intends to utilise these idle assets for commercial purposes.

According to SCR, the objective is to allow small private functions such as birthdays and marriages and to host commercial activities like coaching classes by private operators, quick commerce premises, convenience stores, fashion stores, salons, and promotional kiosks utilising the vacant land at the particular railway stations or premises which have empty land or low traffic.
