MADURAI: The Tamil Nadu State Environment Impact Assessment Authority (SEIAA) has granted environmental clearance for the construction of Tidel parks in Madurai and Trichy, marking a key milestone for these much-anticipated projects. Tenders for the projects were already issued, and officials from TIDEL Park Limited say that foundation stones will be laid within a month.
The Madurai Tidel park will come up near the Mattuthavani bus stand on a 9.97-acre site, with a built-up area of 5.67 lakh sqft. The 289 crore project will include a ground floor and 12 additional floors, equipped with state-of-the-art facilities to cater to IT and IT-enabled services (ITES) companies.
The park will provide plug-and-play workspaces, high-speed internet connectivity, and modern amenities such as conference rooms, incubation centres, and recreational spaces. Once operational, it is expected to create approximately 5,500 direct jobs, significantly bolstering Madurai’s economic and technological ecosystem.
In Trichy, the Tidel park will be established near the integrated bus terminus at Panjappur, along the Trichy-Madurai national highway. Spread over an 11-acre plot with a built-up area of 5.5 lakh sqft, the project is estimated to cost 290 crore. It will also feature cutting-edge infrastructure tailored to IT and ITES companies. The Trichy Tidel park is expected to generate around 5,000 jobs, strengthening the city’s position as an emerging industrial hub.
Both projects are being spearheaded by Tidel Park Limited, a Tamil Nadu govt initiative, which submitted the proposals in Dec 2024. Following a detailed review process, SEIAA granted the necessary environmental clearance.
A senior official from Tidel Park Limited said that chief minister M K Stalin is expected to lay the foundation stones for both projects soon, with construction likely to commence within two months.
