MARGAO: The South Goa district collector announced a one-day special drive on Jan 25 to expedite the processing of pending applications under the Goa Regularisation of Unauthorised Construction Act, 2016.
The initiative aims to streamline the disposal of cases by bringing together applicants and key department representatives under one roof.
The drive will be conducted simultaneously across all deputy collectors’ offices in South Goa from 11am to 5pm. Representatives from the PWD, town and country planning department, forest department, and survey & land records office will be present to facilitate immediate decision-making.
Also, applicants whose constructions exceed permissible limits will be given an opportunity to revise their plans before facing rejection. Such revised plans must be submitted by Jan 18.
The deputy collectors have been instructed to prepare a comprehensive list of pending applications and notify the applicants to bring their relevant documents.
The initiative follows a standard operating procedure issued earlier by the state revenue department.
The district collector mandated all the technical departments to submit their reports by Jan 20, warning strictly of action against all the non-compliant departments.
A final report on the drive’s outcomes is expected by Jan 30.
