PUNE: The state govt had achieved its revenue target of Rs50,000 crore for financial year 2023-24 because of robust property registrations.

The registration of property with inspector general of registration (IGR) department was a key contributor to the state exchequer.

State inspector general of registration and stamps Hiralal Sonawane told TOI they had collected Rs50,142.77 cr with around 29.17 lakh documents registered at the state registration offices till March 31. The earlier target was Rs45,000 cr and was revised to Rs50,000 cr. Sonawane said, “The target was increased some months ago. It was met because of steady registrations.”

The department had kept its offices open on the last three days of the financial year, despite Friday being a public holiday. A total of 24,112 documents were registered and Rs1,100 cr earned on the last three days of March.

E-registrations from builders’ offices also contributed to the high revenue collection with about 12.22 lakh documents registered in the last financial year, officials said.
