HYDERABAD: Deputy chief minister Bhatti Vikramarka on Saturday directed the officials of the housing and revenue departments to start the construction of Indiramma houses in districts where the Graduate and Teacher MLC constituencies election code is not in force. This should also be done elsewhere in the state before the panchayat election poll schedule and code come into force, he said.

At a pre-budget review with the officials of the two departments, Bhatti said CM A Revanth Reddy stated that the construction of Indiramma houses should start immediately in Mahabubnagar and Rangareddy districts too, where the MLC poll code is not in force.

“The Congress govt has allocated funds in the budget for 3,500 houses in every assembly constituency in the state. The Indiramma housing scheme is part of the six guarantees given by the Congress to the people. Ensure that proper representation is made to get back govt lands that are in court cases,” he said.

In the context of the rapid development of Hyderabad, Bhatti said that the housing department should focus on the construction of satellite townships for the poor and middle-class people around the outer and regional ring roads. “Identify suitable areas for the construction of lower income group (LIG), middle income group (MIG), and higher income group (HIG) houses and send proposals to the Revenue department for the required land and acquire the land,” he added.

The deputy CM said modern technology should be adopted for digital land surveys. A list of offices of all govt departments operating in rented buildings should be collected, and a special section should be set up in the Finance Department to pay the rent every month regularly, he said.

Since the govt is promoting pollution-free green energy, Bhatti advised the officials to take steps to install solar power on the office buildings of all govt departments. He said that the goal of the people’s govt formed during Indiramma’s reign was to create wealth and distribute that wealth to the people of this state. In line with this goal, the officials should focus on mobilising alternative resources.
