HYDERABAD: The Congress government has decided to regularise the plots in unauthorised layouts, the applications for which were submitted when the Layout Regularisation Scheme (LRS) was offered in 2020 by the previous government.
The applicants can regularise their plots upto March 31, the guidelines and other details for which would be issued in a day or two. Nearly 20 lakh middle and lower income groups of the society are expected to be benefitted by this decision.
Chief minister A Revanth Reddy took a decision to this effect at a review meeting on Monday. However, the layouts falling in the purview of endowments, WAQF lands and judicial bodies will not be eligible for regularisation.
Once the layouts are regularised, they will be eligible for infrastructure improvements from the government side and also get legal recognition to their properties.
The previous BRS government had offered the LRS scheme to provide relief to the people who had purchased plots in unauthorised layouts and to promote planned development in these unapproved layouts.
However, the LRS scheme could not be taken forward then due to legal and other issues.
