The Bachelor’s 26th season, starring Clayton Echard, culminated in Fantasy Suite dates in luxury yurts—as well as the infamous rose ceremony from hell, filmed at the futuristic Harpa Concert Hall. Iceland’s natural features—lagoons, volcanos, geysers, hot springs and lava fields—created an amazing backdrop for excursions like a helicopter tour of Reykjavik’s snow-dusted mountains, soaking in the Sky Lagoon (a geothermal spa), and romping around in a dune buggy.

The first Golden Bachelor Turner and his ring winner, Theresa Nist, got married on live TV at La Quinta Resort & Club, a collection of Spanish Revival–style bungalows near Palm Springs. The area gets 350 days of sunshine each year and provides easy access to Joshua Tree National Park, with its spiky-leafed, namesake Joshua Trees and intriguing rock formations. Producers also booked the 45-acre resort, designed by Gordon Kaufmann in 1926 (his most famous project is the Hoover Dam), for The Bachelorette’s entire 16th season, which starred Clare Crawley and Tayshia Adams (after Crawley departed in the fourth episode).
