PUNE: Six proposed town planning (TP) schemes, spread over 1,000 hectares in the Pune Metropolitan Region (PMR), may not take off the ground soon unless cleared by state govt ahead of the announcement of Lok Sabha polls, a senior PMRDA official said on Wednesday.
“With Lok Sabha polls followed by assembly polls as well as local corporation elections lined up this year, these projects could hit a roadblock if not cleared before implementation of the model code of conduct, and may not take off till the year-end,” the official added.
The projects are being planned on the lines of Gujarat model of town planning scheme under which landowners can get back 50% of developed land in the same area.
“The delay has been hampering development of the areas where they are supposed to come up. The proposed schemes, besides Maan-Mhalunge, are to come up in Vadachiwadi, Autunde Handewadi, Holkarwadi and Manjari Kolwadi. ,” said the official.
The draft development plan for town planning schemes was cleared in January 2023, giving a push to projects along the proposed 82km ring road and paving the way for development work.
