indore under construction building razed for violating ngt norms

INDORE: Indore Municipal Corporation (IMC) on Friday demolished an under-construction building after its owners fail to obtain requisite permissions and violated norms of National Green Tribunal (NGT).

IMC team on Friday morning reached Triveni Nagar on complaints of resident welfare association about an illegal construction being made on a plot. “The action was taken on plot number 28-29, on which, the owners had dismantled old construction and was developing new house without obtaining the requisite permissions and that too within 30-metre radius of a water body,” IMC official PS Kushwah said.

He added that as per NGT’s instructions, no new construction can be made within 30 metre radius of a water body. Complainant Umesh Hublani said that the land belonged to housing society and was marked as open land due to its proximity to a river.

In South Toda, shopkeepers started removing their illegal sheds and kiosks that were erected by encroaching upon roads and footpaths. Some of the kiosks were illegally placed near a water body, which were also removed by the shopkeepers on their own.

The action came following IMC’s ongoing drive to free major markets from encroachment to ease traffic and facilitate commuters. In a last couple of days, IMC has removed illegal structures from busy markets around Rajwada , Bombay Bazaar and Ranipura area.
