NOIDA: The govt has launched a one-time settlement scheme to settle the cases by depositing a fine of Rs 100, the difference in stamp duty fee, interest, and other dues.

Currently, there are 1,400 stamp duty cases pending in four courts in the district. The scheme aims to resolve pending cases swiftly and boost state revenue, officials said.

According to SB Mishra, assistant inspector general-2, stamp and registration department, the scheme was launched on Jan 1.

“The department’s sub-registrars track undervalued title deeds to identify cases where appropriate stamp duty was not paid. The sub-registrars then send notice to the landowners. But many of them fail to pay the amount, following which the case goes into litigation. This not only delays the settlement of the case but increases the interest on less stamp duty,” Mishra said.

In GB Nagar, there are currently 1,400 such cases pending in two AIG courts, ADM and DM courts. The scheme allows property owners to settle their cases by paying a nominal penalty of Rs 100 along with the outstanding stamp duty, interest, and other dues.

“Previously, penalties could go up to four times the deficient amount. This initiative provides relief from heavy fines and delays in justice while accelerating revenue recovery for the state,” Mishra said. The scheme is effective until March 31, he added. “The last time the OTS scheme was implemented was two years ago. Only some of the cases were settled. However, this time, we are aiming to settle all 1,400 cases lodged in litigation,” said the official.
