The Vadodara Municipal Corporation (VMC) with the help of police cracked down on unauthorised street vendors and constructions, including illegal buildings structures linked to a bootlegger, on Wednesday.

VMC teams, along with the police, razed the encroachments along the Gorwa-Panchwati Road on Wednesday. The land was under the jurisdiction of the Sardar Sarovar Narmada Nigam Ltd. Five temporary shelters and two shops were razed in the drive.

The drive against unauthorised street vendors included the removal of handcarts and other material from the Shastri Bridge area. Four truckloads of material were seized from the location.

Street vendors were also removed from the Pratapnagar-Makarpura road while encroachments were cleared on the Gorwa-Madhunagar flyover’s service road. The civic body also razed eight cattle sheds in the Atladara and Kalali areas.
