Garner became a Brentwood resident when the SAG Award winner bought property in the area in 2004 for $5.5 million. Her gorgeous Spanish-style hacienda was built in 1929 and sat behind lush vegetation on three-quarters of an acre of land. A romantic courtyard fronted the roughly 3,800-square-foot home, and there were gardens, fountains, a pool, an outdoor fireplace, a detached guesthouse, and even an olive grove spread across the property.

When Garner married Affleck in 2005, the Batman star moved into her five-bedroom, five-and-a-half-bathroom home, and there they stayed until Garner sold it in 2009 for $6.25 million. Adding more star power is the fact that Cindy Crawford owned the dreamy digs at one point, and the main house was used as the home of Reese Witherspoon’s character in the 2017 rom-com Home Again.

Cliff May–designed Pacific Palisades estate

By the time Affleck and Garner moved to the Pacific Palisades in 2009, they had two children in tow. No wonder the family set up camp on a three-acre plot with nearly 20,000 square feet of living space. There was so much space Garner practically set up a farm on the property. “If you go to my house in California, you will see seven beehives, and you’ll see seven chickens—except now it’s six chickens because we just lost one. And you’ll see a little orchard and a bunch of blueberry bushes and a garden we eat out of every single day,” Garner told the crowd at Vanity Fair’s forum for women and entrepreneurial leadership back in 2018.

Nestled in The Palisades’s tony Riviera section, their former slice of paradise had a pedigreed Hollywood past. Built in the 1930s and designed by Cliff May—known to many as the father of the California ranch-style home—the 8,800-square-foot main house was purchased in 1947 by legendary actor Gregory Peck, who lived there with his wife until 1952. The property changed hands a few times, then in 1992, mega producer Brian Grazer and his screenwriter wife, Gigi, bought it and made significant additions, including a two-bedroom guesthouse with a screening room. Apart from a basketball court, gym, art studio, and games room, because of its unique positioning on a cliff, the property had two-bedroom, two-bathroom subterranean living quarters below the massive lawn in the backyard. And yes, there were windows with incredible views.

Affleck and Garner split in 2015, and began looking for a buyer willing to pay $45 million for the abode. Ultimately, the couple didn’t sell the estate until 2018, when they finalized their divorce. The actors got $32 million for the property. The buyers? None other than Maroon 5’s lead singer Adam Levine and his wife, Behati Prinsloo, who gave AD a tour of their makeover of the home. The couple has since sold the property for $51 million.

Family farm in Oklahoma

Although she doesn’t live there, in 2017, Garner bought her family’s 55-acre farm in Oklahoma from her uncle. “This is what I come from, I am a farmer’s daughter’s daughter,” she told Vanity Fair in 2018. Both her uncle and aunt still live on the property, which is one of the sources for the fresh fruit and vegetables that go into the food produced by Once Upon a Farm, the organic baby food company the West Virginia–raised nature lover helped found. The Juno actor has referred to the farm, which has been in her family for nearly nine decades, as her “favorite place.”
