GURUGRAM: Hundreds of homebuyers of the Greenopolis housing project in the city on Sunday staged a massive protest at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi against Orris Infrastructure Pvt Ltd and its contractor, Three C, after years of unfulfilled promises, financial distress and systemic apathy.

Despite multiple complaints to authorities, legal battles in various courts and pleas to ministers, homebuyers remain stuck in limbo, forced to pay EMIs and rent while their homes remain unfinished.

The protest saw a wave of outrage from aggrieved homebuyers, who accused the authorities of turning a blind eye to blatant fraud. The homebuyers demanded immediate possession of completed flats and a court-backed timeline for pending construction, legal action against Orris Infrastructure and Three C for fraud and delays, accountability from authorities for their inaction and compensation for financial and emotional distress caused over the past decade.

“We followed every legal route — complaints to HARERA, multiple court cases and appeals to ministers — yet there is no action against the builder. The authorities failed us, forcing us to take our fight to the streets,” president of Greenopolis Welfare Association (GWA) RK Arora said. The Greenopolis project — launched in 2012 in Gurgaon Sector 89 — was a Rs 2,000 crore joint development between Orris Infrastructure and Three C. It promised 1,862 flats across 28 towers, with possession expected by 2016. However, disputes between the builder and contractor led to stalled construction, leaving over 1,800 families in financial turmoil. Three C later entered insolvency, while Orris took over control of the project and escrow account funds. Instead, it reneged on its commitment, refusing to hand over even the completed flats to homebuyers. Homebuyers allege Orris, in collusion with the Insolvency Resolution Professional, is attempting to usurp 1,200 flats.
