GURUGRAM: Officials of the town and country planning department (DTCP) and GMDA visited Block E of Vatika City on Thursday to examine safety problems and effects on traffic flow if a gate is installed on an internal road in the residential colony.

Residents of E block of Vatika India Next in Sector 82 had sought permission to install security gates and CCTV cameras on the internal road. DTCP and GMDA directed the developer’s representatives to obtain mandatory permission from the district administration before installing the gates. The RWA has been asked to set up an internal coordination committee for operation of gates and ensure safe traffic movement.

“We are writing to you about an urgent matter concerning safety and security of residents in our township with numerous entry and exit points and lack of proper gates. This has created a situation susceptible to misuse of thoroughfares by residents from neighbouring blocks, hawkers, delivery staff and unauthorised vehicles,” stated residents in the letter to authorities.

Residents said this situation has compromised safety and security and also exposed them to various risks, including theft and other public disturbances. They sought district town planner Manish Yadav and GMDA’s RS Batth’s intervention in the matter. “The primary objective of installing the gate is to restrict entry of unauthorised individuals in the housing society,” residents said.

Batth said the representatives of the developer were directed to procure permission from the DC office before installing the gate on the internal road. “The residents association was directed to form an internal coordination committee for operation of gates and ensuring safe traffic movement,” he said.
