Andhra Pradesh Govt To Complete Eight Lakh Houses: Government aims to complete 8 lakh houses by March

VIJAYAWADA: Housing minister K Pardha Saradhi has said that they have readied an action plan to complete construction of about 1.28 lakh houses in the next 100 days.

He said that they have set focus on the completion of about 8 lakh houses by next March.

The minister reviewed the progress of housing units taken up under PM Awas Yojana scheme in different housing colonies in the state with the officials in the secretariat on Wednesday.

Speaking to media after the review, the minister said they would extend full support to beneficiaries in completion of the housing units.

He said that they wanted to clear the infrastructure troubles in the housing colonies in a phased manner by making field visit. “We have readied a roadmap to complete the construction of all the housing unit under progress in a systematic manner. We will handhold all the beneficiaries in completion of the units,” said Saradhi.

He said that chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu is very particular about providing houses to all the poor in the state. He said that they have also decided to allow stage conversion for about 6 lakh housing units which were not commenced to help the beneficiaries to launch works shortly.

“We will complete 1.28 lakh houses in 100 days. We will spend Rs.2,520 crore for completion of the housing units in next three months. We have also set target to complete another 8 lakh houses before March, 2025,” said Saradhi.

He said that the previous govt had left the beneficiaries as orphans by not creating proper infrastructure in the colonies. He said that they have also decided to utilize fly ash from VTPS, NTPC, Nellore, RTTPS power plants for laying of roads and also level the low-lying colonies.

He said that the govt would bear the cost of the fly ash transport to the colonies. He explained that they would take a final call to complete the houses under option-III after consulting the chief minister.

The govt had to take up the construction of houses under option-III. He said that he would review the progress of housing units every month with the district GMs of the department. He wanted the officials to deploy additional staff in the colonies and utilize the services of the local village/ward secretariats to closely monitor the progress.

Special C S Ajey Jain, housing special secretary Mydeen Diwan, housing corporation managing director Lakshmi Shah and all district managers were present.
