BENGALURU: BDA officials took action and halted work after public complaints about the illegal layout near White Rose Layout surfaced in their office. A few days ago, residents of Whitefield had alleged the emergence of another layout.
Officials from the Bangalore Development Authority (BDA) office visited the alleged spot of illegal layout on January 11, 2023. The team visited Pattandur Agrahara Village, Whitefield took note of the construction work and put a temporary halt to it.
“We visited the site following a public complaint about the allegations of an illegal layout. We saw earth movers were in progress and put a halt to work. We have asked them to submit their actions to the BDA office or stop work. The report along with photographs will be shared with the BDA Commissioner and a decision will be taken,” said a senior BDA official.
Whitefield Ward Committee which took cognisance of the new formation, wrote a letter to BDA officials requesting them to take action.
As per the complaint filed, “Some developers are scheming to launch an illegal layout, with access through White Rose Layout. It’s come to our notice that earthwork, falling of trees, and underground drainage (UGD) pipe laying, with the intention of layout formation has begun in the above-mentioned property and has been going on for the last few months. We hear allegations that an illegal layout without BDA approval is being formed and individual sites in this proposed layout are being marketed. Its developer. We request you to verify if the developer has obtained BDA approval for the layout and if not, we request you to prevent the formation of the said illegal layout.”
The residents informed the Tahsildar of Bengaluru East Taluk, Ravi Y on December 22, 2023. Following this, the Revenue Inspector investigated the matter and the formation was suspended. On January 10. the Tahsildar informed the residents that the land was converted and it does not fall under their purview.
The alleged illegal layout has come up near Rose White Layout where BBMP launched enforcement action against 72 unauthorised buildings. Residents had also written to the Revenue minister highlighting the formation of the illegal layout.
