Construction of Vazhakkala Station to Commence Soon, ET RealEstate

KOCHI: Kochi Metro Rail Ltd (KMRL) will soon start construction works on Metro station at Vazhakkala. Revenue authorities have issued land acquisition notification for the station on the upcoming Pink Line of KMRL connecting Palarivattom with Kakkanad Junction.

The notification states that 0.2078 hectares in Kanayannur taluk will be acquired for the station construction, and land acquisition tahsildar of Kochi Metro Phase II project has been ordered to acquire the land. Notification for land acquisition to construct Chitethukara and Cochin SEZ Metro stations was issued two weeks ago. A total of 0.235 hectares will be acquired for SEZ station and 0.1810 hectares will be acquired for Chitethukara station.

There will be 11 stations on the 11.2-km Pink Line. Stations are being constructed at Jawaharlal Nehru (JLN) Stadium, Palarivattom Junction, Palarivattom Bypass, Chembumukku, Vazhakkala, Padamughal, Kakkanad Junction, Cochin SEZ, Chittethukara, Kinfra and Infopark.

“The ongoing construction work, including the Infopark station, will continue and revenue authorities will complete formal acquisition procedures for other stations soon,” said a KMRL source.
