INDORE: Indore district administration on Tuesday sealed the office of a coloniser and a farmhouse on account of non-payment of diversion tax. The officials sealed the office of a coloniser, Vidyut Mittal, situated in Mhowgaon, for failing to clear a land diversion tax of around Rs 18 lakh due on his Super City Colony. The office will only be opened after the coloniser makes the payment, SDM Rakesh Parmar said.
A team led by Kanadiya tehsildar Ashok Parmar sealed Shobhit Shanti Niketan Farmhouse situated in Jhalaria village after the owner, Chhaganlal s/o Bhagwan Lal, failed to clear the due land diversion tax of around Rs 2 lakh. It took a fortnight for the action after a review meeting revealed that the Indore district administration had only recovered Rs 45 crore against its target of generating an income of Rs 120 crore by end of this financial year.
Officials claim that SDMs of all 10 tehsils have been asked to make a list of big defaulters and approach them with the last opportunity to either clear the dues or face actions, including sealing the property.
“We have instructed all the tehsils to identify big defaulters and approach them to clear the land diversion tax or face action,” ADM Nisha Damor said.
“In the last financial year, the administration generated around Rs 48 crore in revenue through land diversion tax against the same target of Rs 120 crore,” she said.
