LUDHIANA: Acting against illegal occupants of government flats, a team from Greater Ludhiana Area Development Authority (Glada), in the presence of heavy police force, was able to vacate 58 flats at Urban Estate on Wednesday.
Occupants of five flats produced documents to the properties and were not evicted. Occupants of another 19 flats have sought time to leave home. The drive was carried out in Urban Estate, Sector 40, Chandigarh Road on Wednesday. In all, 82 houses had been identified where illegal occupants had been living. These occupants had been served eviction notices on July 27, 2023. Glada officials had asked for police help. After getting the same, they removed the occupants and sealed the flats.
