JAIPUR: Jaipur Metro Railway Corporation (JMRC) is set to conduct fresh feasibility studies on expanding the existing Line 1 and the proposed Line 2 of Jaipur Metro.
Officials said that following a recent review meeting of the UDH department, chaired by chief minister Bhajan Lal Sharma, there are plans to expand the proposed Line 2 from Vidhyadhar Nagar to Chomu and from Sitapura to two different directions: Jagatpura and Chaksu.
“In the meeting held on Nov 29, 2024, the chief minister insisted on expanding the proposed Line 2 to Chomu in the northern direction and to Chaksu and Jagatpura in its southern direction. We are going to start a feasibility report for this expansion soon. From Sitapura, instead of one single line, two branch lines may head towards Jagatpura and Chaksu,” an official from JMRC stated.
The proposal to expand Jaipur Metro to Chomu and Chaksu was first mooted by former CM Ashok Gehlot.
