MYSURU: In a big boost to the state economy, India’s first printed circuit board (PCB) and Supply Chain Cluster will come up in the city.

In his speech, which was read out in his absence at the 4th edition of the Mysuru Big Tech Show 2024 at the Infosys campus here on Thursday, minister for electronics, IT/BT, and rural development & panchayat raj, Priyank Kharge, stated that once this park comes up, Mysuru will truly become the Silicon City of India.

The minister announced that Karnataka‘s new ESDM policy is under industry consultation for updating in the coming months.

Listing out the state govt’s support for startups, he announced a new procurement policy to ensure govt support for startups with unique intellectual property registered with the startup cell. “If these startups are invested in and engaged with the ‘Beyond Bengaluru‘ initiative, the Karnataka govt can be their first customer,” he said.

Ekroop Kaur, secretary, department of electronics, IT, BT & ST, said Karnataka will release the draft Global Capability Centres (GCC) policy next week. She also announced that the Bengaluru Tech Summit will have a new vertical on electronics and semiconductors.

She stated that the new GCC policy will focus on skilling and research and development. She added that the new policy will incentivise investment beyond Bengaluru.

BV Naidu, chairman, KDEM, Sanjeev Gupta, CEO, KDEM, and others were present.

As part of the event, several panel discussions were held. These included a panel on strategies to elevate Mysuru’s presence on the global GCC map, the GIA – building tech bridges between beyond Bengaluru and the world, leveraging talent: the Human Capital on how Karnataka can become the Global Cybersecurity Talent Powerhouse, etc.

During the event, top fundable startups such as Mommy Mills Food Private Limited, TIEA Connectors Pvt Limited, and Kannada Phonetics were selected.
