AYODHYA: Land in Ayodhya is now available at a premium. Launching Vashisth Kunj, a residential scheme situated 20km away from the Ram temple, the Ayodhya Development Authority (ADA) has fixed the reserved price of plots in the range of Rs 2,700 per sq ft to Rs 3,200 per sq ft.

According to the latest trend, barring Lucknow, prices of properties floated by various agencies under the housing department in the Awadh region are on the higher side in Ayodhya.

After a long gap, ADA has launched a residential scheme comprising 600 plots in Sohawal locality. Situated off the Lucknow-Ayodhya national highway, the size of the plots range between 387 sq ft and 2,152 sq ft catering to economically backward, low-income, middle income and high-income categories.

On Dec 3, UP Housing Board floated residential units and plots lying vacant in the schemes that had been launched in the past. Within the Awadh region, vacant plots have been offered in multiple locations of Lucknow, Sultanpur and Hardoi districts.

Barring Lucknow, where reserved rates are upwards of Rs 4,800 per sq ft, in all other locations prices of residential plots are lower in comparison to Ayodhya. In Hardoi and Sultanpur, prices are in the range of Rs 2,200 to Rs 2,700.

“One should keep in mind that vacant plots in the three cities under Avas Vikas Parishad are situated in locations where residential colonies have already mushroomed. In Ayodhya, the greenfield colony is also generating a lot of response,” a senior officer from the department said.

In Gonda, Barabanki and Bahraich, the reserved rates kept for the 2024-25 financial year of plots within the Avas Vikas Parishad colonies are also on the lower side in comparison.

ADA VC Ashwini Kumar Pandey said: “We were receiving a lot of inquiries for the Vashisth Kunj scheme as a lot of individuals from all over the country want to settle in Ayodhya after retirement. The reserved rates have been calculated according to the formula stipulated by the state govt. Interested buyers can register and apply for plots till Jan 8.” As private players are offering plots at a hefty premium in Ayodhya, those looking forward to govt housing schemes are expected to participate in large numbers.
