MADURAI: Madras high court has directed the Dindigul district administration to consider and pass orders on a plea seeking a directive to prevent illegal sand mining in a pond in Thethupatti village in the district.

The court was hearing a public interest litigation filed by Pandi Yogeswaran. The petitioner also sought action against those involved in illegal sand mining in the pond.

A division bench of justice J Nisha Banu and justice S Srimathy directed the authorities to provide an opportunity for hearing the petitioner and other people concerned. The above exercise shall be completed within 12 weeks, the judges directed and disposed of the petition.
