HYDERABAD: No poor family will suffer because of the demolitions of illegal buildings in FTL and buffer zones of water bodies being taken up by HYDRAA, chief minister A Revanth Reddy said on Tuesday. The govt has issued orders to allot 2BHK units to those being affected in the Musi riverfront project and other water bodies within Outer Ring Road limits.

“The deserving poor families should not be left on the streets. They should be allotted a double bedroom house or given some other rehabilitation alternative. Collect the details of all the eligible poor living in the Musi FTL and buffer zone, and other ponds and canals within the ORR. Make sure that all the deserving poor are rehabilitated.

At the same time, it is the responsibility of officials to conserve and protect lakes, ponds, and water bodies within the ORR, as protecting them is essential to avoid huge losses due to natural calamities,” the CM said at a review meeting on the Musi riverfront and Hyderabad Metro Rail expansion project at his residence-cum-camp office in Jubilee Hills.

CM Revanth sought to assure that all Musi project-affected people will be rehabilitated. Sources in the CMO said Revanth also directed the officials to allocate 16,000 2BHK units to those families getting displaced due to the Musi project. Rangareddy, Hyderabad and Medchal Malkajgiri district collectors should constitute teams and go door-to-door from Wednesday to inform the people about the locations of 2BHK units allotted to them.

Firstly, 16,000 occupied houses in the river bed will be removed and the people there will be moved. However, people having pattas in the buffer zone will be treated differently, and a compensation package and rehabilitation will be given as per the Right to Fair Compensation and Transparency in Land Acquisition, Rehabilitation and Resettlement (Telangana Amendment) Act, depending upon the structure value, house site land value, and also a 2BHK house.

Encroachers will be allotted only a 2BHK house as they are not entitled to compensation.

The CM made it clear that monitoring should be made strict so that the lakes and canals are not encroached upon hereafter. As part of this, CCTV cameras should be installed at all the ponds in the city and connected to the police central command control centre.

All the ponds, lakes, and drains inside the ORR and FTL and buffer zones should be identified and earmarked. “Collect details of the encroachment of every pond and canal within the ORR. Prepare a full-scale report related to these,” he said.
